How long have you worked in the pool & spa industry?

I will be hitting my 20-year mark this coming September.

How has being a part of NESPA impacted your career?

Being a part of NESPA has shown me that there are a ton of great people that are dedicated to constantly improving the industry and

making sure companies have the proper knowledge to be safe and successful.

What was your first industry job?

I was initially hired as a helper with The Pool Experts, Inc. I had no experience with swimming pools and was only promised a few

weeks of work. Twenty years later and I'm at the same company.

What is your favorite pool project that you have worked on, and why?

I'd have to say my favorite project was taking a pool that had been closed for nearly ten years and getting it back to a beautiful backyard oasis with all new modern equipment. When a new homeowner is amazed at the transformation, that is the best feeling.

What are the key skills or traits a person needs to be successful in our industry?

Good communication skills are a necessity no matter what aspect of the industry you are involved in. Always be willing to learn and improve. Of course, a passion for what you do always helps.

Tell us about your favorite Pool & Spa Show memory?

My favorite memory would have to be my last in-person show in January 2020 (pre-covid). Even though I've attended the show for 15 plus years, it was my first year volunteering. It gave me an inside look into everything it takes to put on such an amazing event. It also meant being invited to the best parties with industry leaders. And who doesn't love a good party, lol?

When you aren't working, you are…?

When I'm not working, I try to spend as much time as I can with my kids. I try to play golf when I can (trust me, I'm no pro). I also enjoy camping, and I try to take 2 or 3 whitewater rafting trips each year. I was planning on my first Class V whitewater trip but had to postpone due to covid. I guess it will have to be 2021!

What is something that most people don't know about you (fun fact)?

In my late teens/early 20's I worked as a manager/roadie for friends of mine in a band. I got to travel to some cool places and meet some really cool people.

Who inspires you?

The owners of the company I work for have always been a huge inspiration for me. They are by far the best people I've ever worked for. They have guided me through difficult times in my life and have been there to celebrate some of the best moments in my life. Love you guys!

What's one thing - either industry-related or not - you learned in the last month?

Well, with my oldest turning 13, I learned that teenage daughters can be a handful. LOL

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would have to go with a nice filet medium rare with sauteed onions and mushrooms, garlic potatoes, and broccoli.
